Junior Race Report – December 2018 – Round 6
So it all came down, as always, to the final round of the championship and a number of the classes went right down to the wire. Well done to everyone, whether you placed in the top three or not, what I have seen through writing these reports this year is that there isn’t one person who hasn’t improved this year, so well done to all the Junior drivers, you are a credit to our wonderful club.
I apologise for the delay in writing this report and I know you are all looking forward to the Christmas special event on Friday, but here is the final report of the year.
There 6 of our under 12 drivers competing in the E-final this round and a welcome return for Myles Tattersall , who we hadn’t seen for a little while. Clearly all those weeks in the garage has caused a few gremlins to creep into his car as his great 3rd place finish ended with a DNF, unlucky Myles but hope to see you again soon. In 5th place and definitely one of our improving drivers came Katie Martin with 8 laps, well done again Katie. 2nd to 4th places was super close with only 4 seconds between them all. Jacob Needham finished an unlucky 4th with 9 laps. Sophie Smith came in 3rd just 1 second behind Aaron Campbell who got 2nd, great driving you three. But Blake Perei proved just too good for the rest, again taking the win with a solid 10 laps. Very well done Blake.
Onto the D final and another final packed full of Juniors. The Booy’s had a great battle for 7th and 8th with Elliott pipping sister Maisy by just 3 seconds. Next up we had Zac Heggie with a very strong performance and an excellent 13 laps. In fact its definitely worth pointing out that 1st to 6th place all finished on the same lap in a super close final. Joe Heggie, just managed to keep ahead of his older brother to finish in 5th. Back Witts had a great drive to grab 4th place. Harrison Baron and Zak Smith had a really close battle and Zak managed to hold onto second place by less than a second. Great driving everyone.
Moving up to the C-Final and Dan Martin had an unlucky final and only managed 9 laps and 9th place, better luck next time Dan. Levi Akeroyd performed very well again this week, with a 7th place finish and an excellent 13 laps. Towards the front Ashton Perei showed some superb driving skills to take 2nd place with a stunning 15 laps. Great work boys.
In the B-final Ben Smith continued to be plagued by electrical gremlins and his car stopped on the starting grid. despite a spirited drive he had just too much ground to make up and finished in 6th place with 13 laps. I would sack the mechanic Ben! Connor Noblet finished just ahead in 5th also with 13 laps, well done Connor.
In the A Final it was great to see Ethan Bradbury back racing at Ribble again. Ethan managed to qualify 6th on the grid ini what was a competitive field. He went way better than that in the final though and kept it clean while others buckled under the pressure and were crashing. He finished a superb 3rd place with 17 laps. Great driving Ethan.
Now onto the GT12 class. Again the B-final was a closely contested affair, with only a few laps covering most of the drivers. Oliver Lowe managed 6th place and 11 laps in the end, well done Oliver. Noah Aldred was just ahead with 12 laps, with Leon Ashton managing to hold off Noah to take 4th place also with 12 laps. excellent driving guys.
Final onto the A final and probably the closest race of the night across the field. Michael Laws could only finish in 7th place but still managed an excellent 17 laps. Meghan Bradbury kept her super string of result going and finished an absolutely fab 3rd place with 18 laps and incredibly only 0.3 seconds behind 2nd. Great driving Meghan.
So thats all for this week and for this years junior race reports. I hope you have enjoyed reading them and I am looking forward to next year and some more fun racing.
